Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes, all gifts are tax-deductible. You will receive a receipt from the NCCU Foundation soon after they receive your donation.
How Do I make a Gift to the Alpha Lambda Endowment?
Online tax-deductible contributions may be made via the secure NCCU Foundation site or make a check payable to NCCU Foundation, Inc. (Make sure you indicate the designation as Alpha Lambda Endowed Scholarship online or in the memo section of your check.) Can anyone give to the Alpha Lambda Endowed Scholarship?
Yes. We encourage all NCCU Alumni, family and friends of the University to give and designate their gift to the Alpha Lambda Endowed Scholarship.
Can my line make a donation as a group?
Yes. For example, if your line is celebrating an anniversary, we encourage that a donation to the Endowment be part of your anniversary celebration. We encourage that Sorors reach out to their line sisters to ask them to give individually or as a group.
Can I make a monthly gift?
Yes, download the pdf form to make monthly installments via your charge card or bank account and return the form via mail.
How do I make a matching gift from my company?
When you make your gift, include a note that indicates your company (name) is a matching gift company; you should also ask your company what their corporate procedure for the matched donation program… ie., some companies require the employee to complete an in-house form do so online. You should complete that information, indicate on the memo line of your donation or include a note. The Office of Advancement Services will take it from there. You will receive hard credit for your donation and soft credit for the matched gift.
Can I make a gift in memory of a line sister?
Yes. When a gift is made in memory of a deceased line sister, include the name of the Soror on the memo line of the check or the online donation form; include the maiden name, this will assure proper receipt assignment. Your gift receipt will indicate the gift “made in memory” to the Alpha Lambda Endowment.
What Happens if the goal of $25,000 is not met?
If the donations collected by October 2018 does not exceed $25,000, all gifts collected at that time will go into the NCCU Foundation General Fund. For more information about Named Endowment Guidelines, visit http://www.nccu.edu/formsdocs/proxy.cfm?file_id=2871
Once our goal is met, who qualifies for the Endowed Scholarship?
Once the $25,000 minimum contribution requirement is met, scholarships will be awarded based on the following criteria: The recipient(s) shall be determined by the Scholarship Committee of North Carolina Central University. The Scholarship shall apply the following criteria in the selection of the scholarship recipients(s). This scholarship shall be limited to a single student until such time as the Fund can support additional awards. This scholarship fund shall provide an annual scholarship to a student or students as follows:
- Recipients(s) must be a female enrolled in the North Carolina Central University.
- Recipient(s) shall be in good academic standing as defined by North Carolina Central University, and may apply for renewal of the scholarship if in good standing with the University.
- The recipient(s) shall demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid Office
