Alpha Lambda Endowed Scholarship
An endowed scholarship at North Carolina Central University in the name of Alpha Lambda was the brain-child of Soror Jemma Boler and her Fall 1983 line sisters during the planning stages of their 30th year reunion in 2013.
What is an Endowed Scholarship?
An endowment is a restricted, invested fund from which the interest and dividends earned are used for scholarship awards. An endowed scholarship is one that makes awards from the interest, only, generated from the principal, thereby providing a “scholarship” nest egg for years to come. The Endowed Scholarship offers an opportunity for Sorors of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and graduates of North Carolina Central University to leave a lasting legacy at their Alma Mater.
Once the $25,000 minimum contribution requirement is met, scholarships will be awarded based on the following criteria: The recipient(s) shall be determined by the Scholarship Committee of North Carolina Central University. The Scholarship shall apply the following criteria in the selection of the scholarship recipients(s). This scholarship shall be limited to a single student until such time as the Fund can support additional awards. This scholarship fund shall provide an annual scholarship to a student or students as follows:
- Recipients(s) must be a female enrolled in the North Carolina Central University.
- Recipient(s) shall be in good academic standing as defined by North Carolina Central University, and may apply for renewal of the scholarship if in good standing with the University.
- The recipient(s) shall demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid Office
